History: | Formed many years ago when the corp of Engineers dredged and worked the river. The channel ran close to this marsh area, and the dredge material began to accumulate, hence the name. The name is used by the Coast Guard for local knowledge training adn as a geographical location for search and rescue and assistance reports. |
